Burton J. Penchansky, 71, passed away peacefully at his residence on February 12, 2026. Born on December 30, 1954, in Middletown, NY. Burt was predeceased by his loving parents, Morris and Rita Penchansky. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his devoted wife of 41 years, Cathy Anderson. His brother, Joe (Ellen) Penchansky of Florida, and his nieces, Rosie and Rita, will fondly remember him.
Originally, Burt attended SUNY New Paltz to be an English teacher. He found himself repairing 8-track tapes to help pay for school. By doing so, he realized his calling, and decided to switch to RCA Institute for Electronics. In 1978, he worked at B. Michaels in Kingston, NY. Music was always the soundtrack of Burt's life. He and Cat were often found at musical concerts, reveling in the shared experience of live performances. He combined his love for music and sound by opening Burt's Electronics in Kingston in 1985. Burt shared his craft with so many by giving his customers the experience of elevated sound. As a result, he created life long friendships with his customers because he not only brought them high quality, he did it with humanity and a generosity of spirit. Burt had a wonderful and dry sense of humor. He loved a good impression and was a master of puns. His warmth and kindness touched all who knew him.
Beyond his professional life, Burt's love for animals reflected his compassionate nature. He and Cat shared their home with many rescued pets over the years, each one receiving the same level of care and affection as a member of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saugerties Animal Shelter. Condolences and photographs may be shared with his family in his Tribute Book at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
